MPEG-4 SLS audio allow digital music to be delivered over a wide range of audio fidelity bit rates from a single compressed lossless quality archival file. This has two advantages. First, the need for multiple audio encoding and bit-rate quality music files is eliminated. Second, the resultant streaming media standardization achieves economies-of-scale efficiency in content delivery networks through the possibility of aggregating storage and traffic from multiple music services. This lowers average content delivery networks' tariff rates for individual music services (than if each were to acquire content delivery network services on its individual storage and/or traffic levels).
